The Intrinsic Crusader

Covak found himself greeted by warm smiles and a loving embrace. It was certainly a nice change from his constant degrading from superiors. His parent's expressed their pride in Covak and that they could not be happier. When Covak presented his Valedictorian award, they nearly slipped into hysteria. Xaro embraced his son tearfully. He expressed his unfathomable amount of pride for his son, but Covak sighed heavily. Xaro inquired what was bothering him and Covak replied that he wished his brother was here to see him. Xaro hung his head and explained that Obymes was overseeing him from a peaceful place. Covak shoved Xaro away and asked why he gave up hope on Obymes. Xaro retorted that Obymes has been gone for five years and it was foolish to think he was still alive. Covak stormed out of the room and stated that Xaro was a horrible father for forgetting his son. As he paced to his quarters, Covak couldn't help but let the doubt fester into his composure. Was Obymes still alive?

Covak's bedroom door locked shut and he collapsed on his bed. The weight of his responsibilities alleviated temporary as he slipped into a meditative trance. Covak's anger and sorrow melted away and a wave of serenity washed over him. Sensei, you still continue to help me to this day...

~~---~~!!! A chill shot through Covak's body and was jerked back into consciousness. After a brief moment to regain his composure, he focused on the lingering sensation. This feeling... So familiar... Covak condescended to his stoic emotions and the foreign sensation became easier to isolate. That feeling. I---! Covak's interrupted himself internally as it all came together in that instant. There was no mistaking it, Obymes was still alive! Covak dashed out of his room and burst through the door of the manor. He threw the cover off his swoop and mounted it. The engines roared with life and he took off into the distance as dusk set.

He didn't know where to look but damn it all if he wasn't going to search. He approached the edge of the field and the tree-line to the neighboring forest thickened with every meter. Covak knew the wooded area like the back of his hand. He spent countless hours speeding through it when he was fulfilling his need for speed. Driving in the dark was going to be a different story but he certainly wasn't going to stop now on account of potential reckless endangerment. Covak had endured five years of hellish belittlement to be sure he was strong enough to help his brother. The engines cast an eerie glow on the trees and their shadows stretch deep into the perpetual darkness. He revved the swoop for good measures as he entered the forest.

Covak weaved in and out of the trees like a crochet hook. The wind off his passing pummeled the branches and shook free a few leaves. A sudden alert shot through Covak and he banked hard to his right, barely missing the stump that he was about to impact. The swoop teetered violently and threw Covak off. The engines died and the swoop tumbled off into the depths of the forest. Covak soared through the air and was cloths-lined by a low-hung branch. His head snapped back and bounced off of the densely packed earth and he flew toward a thick dogwood. His shoulder impacted the towering tree-trunk and spun off to a sliding stop. Darkness washed over Covak as he quickly slipped out of consciousness.
His purpose begins to come clear. A figure long since vanished, but not forgotten, from his past has called for help. Covak is the only one able to answer.
